Municipal Emergency Management Plan

Each municipality must have a Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) that includes representatives of the council, response agencies (such as Victoria Police, CFA), recovery agencies (such as the Department of Health and Human Services), and local community groups involved in emergency management issues.
This committee oversees the development and maintenance of a Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP) that outlines the strategies for how we will prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies within the Shire.

What does the MEMP do?

To assist with minimising the effects of an emergency, the MEMP:

• outlines the emergency management arrangements
• addresses all phases of emergency management
• prevention
• response
• recovery
• details pre existing arrangements with other emergency services agencies
• Specifies roles and responsibilities
