Wednesday 14 February 2018

Councillor Robin Taylor resigned from the Mount Alexander Shire Council yesterday, Tuesday 13 February.

Mr Taylor served Mount Alexander Shire over four terms, originally elected in the former ward of Campbell before being elected as one of three Councillors for Castlemaine in 2008 and 2016.

“Mr Taylor’s resignation is a loss for Mount Alexander Shire,” said Mayor Bronwen Machin.

“Robin brought to Councillor deliberations a wealth of experience as a Councillor, a deep knowledge of our community and a strong capacity to represent the views of many rate payers.

“We all listened to him with respect and will miss his knowledge and contributions. We wish him well.”

Chief Executive Officer, Darren Fuzzard said Mr Taylor had a keen focus on ‘common sense’ decision making and ensuring that adequate funds were directed toward critical infrastructure works.

“Robin was a member of a number of committees, including Camp Reserve, Workspace Australia and the Mount Alexander Shire Audit and Risk Advisory Committee and we also thank him on behalf of those groups for his contribution and effort,” Mr Fuzzard said.

The Chief Executive Officer has written to the Victorian Electoral Commission to advise of Robin’s resignation and to seek advice on how the vacant seat will be filled.
