Child plays with colourful Duplo blocks

Playgroups are a fun place for children aged 0-5 years and their families to come together to learn and develop through play based learning and socialising. Playgroups aim to be friendly and welcoming and are a great place for families to build social and support networks in their local community.

Click the links below to find out more about the three types of playgroups available in Mount Alexander Shire:

Mount Alexander Shire Council Supported Playgroup Program

The Supported Playgroup Program is a State Government funded program offering local families fun, facilitated playgroup sessions that encourage families to play, create and engage with their children. Within the supported playgroup session the facilitator will deliver brief weekly (smalltalk) strategies designed to boost parents’ skills and confidence. These strategies encourage families to become more aware of the way they talk, listen and play with their child while supporting their child’s overall development.

The Supported Playgroup Program also offers families the option of one-on-one visits with personalised help linking to local community groups and services where necessary.

For more information contact Libby Page, Supported Playgroup Facilitator on 5471 1700 or Text/Mobile 0436 804 583.

Community Playgroups

Community Playgroups are managed and organised by the families who attend it. These playgroups mostly offer families an unstructured place to socialise and learn through play and craft. Click the links below for more information about each local Community Playgroup.
