Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

The Victorian Government has announced the State of Emergency will be extended until 11.59pm on Sunday 19 July 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. For more information call the hotline on 1800 675 398 or visit www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus.

Council services update

We have reopened our customer service desk at the Civic Centre following three months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. Precautions are in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We have also reopened play spaces and are working with community and sporting groups to safely reopen community halls and sports facilities. Council is currently seeking community feedback on a number of matters.

We invite you to have a say on:
• Proposed Budget 2020/2021. Closes at 5.00pm on Wednesday 15 July.
• Local law review. Closes at 5.00pm on Friday 31 July.
• Maldon streetscape designs. Closes at 5.00pm on Friday 3 July.
• Control of cats and dogs survey. Closes at 5.00pm on Friday 17 July.
• Proposed disposal of Council property at 10 Fitzgeralds Close. Closes at 5.00pm on Wednesday 8 July.
• Household emissions, water and energy survey. Closes in December.

Build your creative profile

Council has launched a community driven project called Get Lost to showcase our cultural strengths to the world. The project includes an online platform for makers and creators to collaborate, exchange ideas and share content. Local creative people can create a profile on the website as part of the first stage of the project. You can also make a tax deductable donation to support our creative sector. Enrol in four year old kinder for 2021

Kindergarten enrolments for YMCA centres open on Wednesday 1 July. This includes Castlemaine Kindergarten, Harcourt Preschool, Maldon Preschool, Newstead Preschool and South Castlemaine Kindergarten. The first round of enrolments close on Monday 31 August. To enrol visit www.earlyyears.ymca.org.au or call the YMCA Early Years Management Team on (03) 4311 1500.

Employment opportunities

Council is recruiting for a number of temporary roles through the Victorian Government’s Working for Victoria initiative. Applicants need to register with Working for Victoria and sign up to the Sidekicker online platform at www.vic.gov.au/workingforvictoria. Roles are updated often so we encourage jobseekers to visit the site regularly.

Council meetings

The next Council meeting is at 6.30pm on Tuesday 21 July. It will be broadcast live via YouTube.
