Variation to outdoor dining permits

As part of our commitment to support local businesses through COVID-19, Mount Alexander Shire Council is working with hospitality businesses to open up additional outdoor dining spaces as we head into summer in line with the Victorian Government’s COVID-19 roadmap to reopening .

What is the permit variation and why is it needed?

The Variation to Existing Outdoor Dining Area Permit is a free permit allowing businesses the opportunity to extend their existing footpath trading into neighbouring space where it is vacant or in consultation with neighbouring businesses.

There is no charge for businesses to apply for this and footpath trading permit. Renewal fees will not be charged for the period from September 2020 – September 2021.

The free permit is part of Council’s commitment to supporting local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will help open up additional outdoor dining spaces for hospitality businesses as we head into summer.

How do I apply?

To apply for the Variation to Existing Outdoor Dining Area Permit you must have an existing footpath trading permit or apply for a permit (Local Law permits) first.
