Mount Alexander Shire Council is pleased to invite you to the 2016 Victorian Seniors Festival and to make the most of this diverse and exciting festival.

We are a proud partner of this annual event. There are plenty of social and cultural activities where you can learn new skills, connect with others and be entertained. I know many people are looking forward to seeing Colleen Hewett on Friday 14 October. Colleen was one of the most successful performers of the 1970s, and we are very lucky to have her taking centre stage at Castlemaine.

There are also many outdoor activities such as walks, tennis and cricket on offer to get you out and about during this lovely time of the year. Why not consider participating in Run the Maine fun run? Walkers and mobility scooters are welcome, with event categories for seniors.

The Seniors Festival is also a great opportunity to celebrate our older residents and recognise the contribution they make to our community. We are very lucky to have such a lively group of seniors in our shire and thank them for their role in creating such an interesting, diverse, colourful and friendly region.

Thank you to all the people involved in making this festival a success, including the wonderful organising committee who have worked so hard to coordinate this enjoyable festival.

We know that staying physically and mentally active can improve independence, quality of life and overall happiness. With this in mind I encourage you to enjoy yourself and make the most of the festival.
