Council adopts plan and budget

Council adopted a Council Plan 2017-2021 and Budget 2017/2018 at its Ordinary Meeting of Council on Tuesday 20 June. Thank you to everyone who provided input or feedback on these important strategic documents. The plan and budget are available to view on Council’s website or at the Civic Centre.

Grants for local artists

Individuals, groups and organisations in the shire are invited to apply for one-off funding as part of Creative Victoria’s Regional Centre for Culture Local Grants program. Grants are available from $1,500 to $30,000. Applications are open Monday 7 to Thursday 31 August. For further details visit the Funding and support section at creative.vic.gov.au.

How to be a rockstar

Young kids are invited to learn how to be rockstars with multi-award-winning comedian Tessa Waters. The 55 minute high-energy show targets children aged three to eight years. How to be a Rockstar will be held from 2.00pm on Thursday 13 July at the Phee Broadway Theatre, Mechanics Lane, Castlemaine. Tickets are $10. Entry is free to children aged two years and under. Purchase tickets at the door prior to the show, at the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre in the Market Building in Mostyn Street, over the phone on 5471 1795 or online at www.pheebroadwaytheatre.com.au.

Public notice - Proposed disposal of Council property

Part of 42 High Street Maldon

Notice is given under Section 189 of the Local Government Act 1989 that Council at its Ordinary Meeting of 20 June 2017 resolved that it intends to dispose of part of the land at 42 High Street in Maldon (part of land behind public toilets). Council is seeking written comment on the proposal to dispose of this property. Submissions will be considered in accordance with Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989. Submissions should indicate whether the person or a person acting on their behalf wishes to be heard before Council.

Written submissions will be accepted until 5.00pm on Tuesday 25 July 2017.

Submitters who wish to speak in support of their submission will be heard at the Ordinary Meeting of Council to be held on 15 August 2017, commencing at 6.30pm at the Civic Centre.

Submissions should be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, Castlemaine VIC 3450 or email info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.
