Proposed relinquishment of Crown Land

Council has conducted a review of Crown Land managed by Council. Surplus parcels of land have been identified that Council intends to return to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP). DELWP is the default manager for public land.

Guildford Gravel Reserves
Former gravel reserves used by the former Shire of Newstead. Council ceased extracting gravel from the reserves in the 1970s or earlier.

Campbells Creek – Creek Improvement Reserve
This section of creek downstream of National School Lane was reserved to Council for creek improvement works in December 1874. DELWP manages Campbells Creek to the north and south of this reservation.

Elphinstone Gravel Reserve (Taradale)
Former gravel reserve used by the Shire of Metcalfe on Old Drummond Road Taradale. It is unknown when Council ceased using this as a gravel reserve.

Council is seeking public feedback on the relinquishment of management of the reserves. Written submissions should be made by 5.00pm on Friday 13 October 2017.

Address submissions to the Chief Executive Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, Castlemaine VIC 3450, or email info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au. Find more information, including maps, at the Have Your Say section of Council’s website. Contact Daniel Borton, Property Portfolio Coordinator, on 5471 1700 to discuss this matter.
