Harcourt Economic Opportunities Forum

Come along to a forum to hear about future planning for the Harcourt area, opportunities from the Harcourt Mountain Bike Park and other local projects. Guest speakers will outline opportunities and types of visitors that mountain bike parks have generated elsewhere in Australia. Everyone is welcome to attend. The forum will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday 20 September at the Harcourt Bowling Club.

Have a say on Victory Park playspace

Council is seeking community input into the design of a new playspace for Victory Park. A short online survey is available at the Have your say section of Council’s website until Monday 25 September. Surveys are also available from the Civic Centre, Castlemaine Library and Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre. There will be many opportunities to further inform the design of the playspace throughout the year. For more information contact Karen Evennett on 5471 1798.

Youth Mental Health First Aid for parents

Parents and carers of children and young people are invited to attend Youth Mental Health First Aid training in October. The course teaches participants how to recognise a possible emerging mental health concern or a mental health crisis. The 14 hour course will be held over four sessions each Tuesday on 10, 17, 24 and 31 October from 9.30am to 1.00pm at the Ray Bradfield Room, Forest Street, Castlemaine. The registration fee of $50 covers the cost of all course materials and catering. To book, visit www.eventbrite.com.au. Seniors festival in October

Programs will soon be available for local events planned as part of the 2017 Victorian Seniors Festival. The festival is a wonderful celebration of seniors in our community and provides a unique way for older residents to stay healthy, active and connected. Programs will be available at community hubs in late September and online. This year's festival is coordinated by Castlemaine Community House.

Give t-shirts a new purpose

Create something wonderful out of your old t-shirts at the next Sustainable Living Workshop. Join the Castlemaine Country Women’s Association and be guided to repurpose t-shirts into a tote, belt, turban or scarf. Music and fun at the Phee

Come and see critically acclaimed musician Adam Page as he combines spontaneous symphonies with silliness and musical buffoonery. His performance is at 7.30pm on Saturday 23 September at the Phee Broadway Theatre in Castlemaine. Tickets are $20/$15 concession. Purchase tickets at the door prior to the show, at the Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre in Mostyn Street or online at www.pheebroadwaytheatre.com.au.

Temporary closure of Maternal and Child Health Centre

The Maternal and Child Health Centre at 15 Lyttleton Street, Castlemaine is closed this week for scheduled maintenance. Council apologises for any inconvenience. Staff are still available by phone on 5472 1364.
