Who should receive an Australia Day award?

Young Citizen of the Year

It's time to put on your thinking cap and nominate someone for the 2018 Australia Day Awards.

Thursday 23 November 2017

If you know an organisation or individual who is making a real difference in our community you can now nominate them for an Australia Day Award.

Mount Alexander Shire Council hosts Australia Day Awards each year, and now is the time to put pen to paper or jump online to submit your nomination.

“We are fortunate to live in such a generous community and we are surrounded by passionate people doing great things,” said Bronwen Machin, Mayor of Mount Alexander Shire.

“I urge each of you to nominate a person or event and recognise those who make a valuable contribution to the shire,” said Mayor Machin.

“The nomination process is straightforward and we are keen to hear about the wonderful work that our community members are doing,” she said.

The award categories are:

• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year
• Senior Citizen of the Year
• Community Event of the Year.

Collect a nomination from the Civic Centre, Visitor Information Centres and via the Australia Day Awards page on Council’s website.

Nominations close at 5.00pm on Friday 15 December 2017.

The winners will be announced on Friday 26 January 2018 at the Australia Day celebration at Victory Park in Castlemaine.
