Get active with the Healthy Active Living Guide

If you’d like to improve your health and become more active, or get involved in local groups, make sure you get your hands on the latest edition of the Healthy Active Living Guide.

The guide is published by Mount Alexander Shire Council and profiles more than 100 activities throughout the shire.

“This edition is bigger and better than ever and covers everything from exercise programs, social activities, short courses, disability services, community lunches and more,” said Jill Barham, Manager Community Wellbeing, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“It’s an essential guide if you’re thinking about trying something new and would like a few ideas,” said Ms Barham.

“Every local activity is covered from Tai Chi and strength and mobility training for elderly residents, to walking, knitting and social groups.

“We also list singing and card playing groups, respite care, gardening programs and pain management services.

“It’s amazing how many different activities that we have in the shire for people of all ages and abilities

“We encourage everyone to take a look and see whether a local activity takes your fancy,” she said.

The free guide is available from Council’s Civic Centre and also located at key community venues such as Castlemaine District Community Health, Castlemaine Community House, Maldon Neighbourhood Centre, Castlemaine Health, Senior Citizens clubs, Newstead Rural Transaction Centre, Castlemaine Library.
