Mount Alexander Shire Council in partnership with the Regional Centre for Culture (RCC) is pleased to announce a new residency program to take place at the Phee Broadway Theatre throughout 2018.

“The residency program will offer community groups, arts organisations, educational groups and individuals of Mount Alexander Shire the use of the Phee Broadway Theatre to develop and present creative works,” said Kara Finlay, Cultural Development Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“The themes for the residencies will have a focus on community connectedness and innovation. This represents a shift to community driven programming for next year’s Phee Broadway Theatre Season,” said Ms Finlay.

The residencies include free venue hire, technical and promotional support, public liability insurance and use of the venue’s ticketing system, as well as a weekly fee to assist with operational costs. Each residency must offer at least one showing or performance to the general public.

All applicants will receive the opportunity to attend a masterclass to support further development of their practice, such as a session with a dramaturg/mentor for a written or devised performance work.

“We are very excited about what the residency has to offer and can’t wait to see how our community is inspired by the concept and opportunity,” said Ms Finlay.

“We hope this program will allow community members to refine their craft and take their work to new audiences,” she said.
Expressions of interest are open and must be submitted by Friday 12 January 2018.
