Play space road test postponed to next week

Victory Park Play Space

Due to the severe weather forecast, Council has postponed the community consultation on the Victory Park play space design until next weekend.

Friday 1 December 2017

Due to the severe weather forecast, Council has postponed the community consultation on the Victory Park play space design that was scheduled for Sunday 3 December to Saturday 9 December.

Families and children are invited to join staff and play space designers next week for a look at the ideas for a new district level play space in the centre of Castlemaine.

“We will have the design concepts for a new play space at Victory Park on display,” said Ben Grounds, Manager Places and Spaces, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“There will also be some pop-up play elements so everyone can have some fun and road test some of the ideas.”

Council is planning a creative play space where people of all ages and abilities can play, explore, socialise and connect.

The concept designs encourage imaginative play and include musical, swinging and spinning elements in response to community feedback.

They are sympathetic to the park’s history and include seating, shade and barriers to the road and car park.

“We’re disappointed we need to reschedule the pop-up event planned around the markets this weekend,” said Mr Grounds.

“We hope to see families come along next Saturday morning to provide feedback on the proposed equipment, colours, materials and general features.

“The feedback will be used to shape the final design.”

Council is working with landscape architects Urban Initiatives, who designed the award-winning playground at the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens.
