Proposed Public Highway Declaration

Notice is given pursuant to sections 204(1), 207A and 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 that Mount Alexander Shire Council proposes to declare laneway between Ray and Elizabeth streets, Castlemaine as a public highway (proposal). This proposal is made under section 204(1), 207A of the Local Government Act 1989. In accordance with section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989 a person may make a submission to this proposal. Submissions are to be received no later than 5.00pm on Wednesday 10 January 2018 and addressed or delivered to Chief Executive Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, 25 Lyttleton Street, Castlemaine VIC 3450 or info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.

Any person making a submission must state in the submission whether he or she wishes to appear in person, or to be represented by a person specified in the submission. Submissions will be heard at the Ordinary Meeting of Council at 6.30pm on Tuesday 20 February 2018 in the Castlemaine Civic Centre. Roadworks underway

Council is currently undertaking roadworks throughout the shire. Vehicles may experience short delays so please allow extra travel time.

• Strathlea - Road and bridge maintenance along Glengower-Joyces Creek Road.
• Faraday – Road rehabilitation works at the intersection of Golden Point Road and Harmony Way.
• Harcourt North – Road rehabilitation works at the intersection of McIvor Road and Harmony Way.

Maintenance works in Strathlea are expected to be finished by 20 December. The road rehabilitation works will continue until March 2018. For more information contact Council on 5471 1700.

Planning permit application

An application for a planning permit (PA217/2017) has been made. The land affected by the application is located at Bubbs Lane, Elphinstone. The application is for a permit to remove four native trees nearby the Bubbs Lane Bridge which is scheduled for reconstruction in April 2018. The applicant for the permit is Mount Alexander Shire Council.

View the application and supporting documentation at the Planning Services Greenlight section of Council’s website or read a printed copy at the Civic Centre in Castlemaine during office hours. Any person who may be affected by the granting of the permit may object or make a submission to the Responsible Authority (Council).

A submission can be lodged online via Greenlight or can be sent in writing to Infrastructure, Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, Castlemaine VIC 3450.

An objection must include the reasons for the objection and state how the objector would be affected. A decision on the application will not be made before Tuesday 19 December 2017. Submitters will be informed of the decision. Every submission will be made publicly available, free of charge, at the Civic Centre during office hours until the permit application is determined by Council.

Dog control changes at Wesley Hill

Wesley Hill Velodrome and Doug Powell Oval are now no-go zones for dogs. Dogs must also be kept on leads at the netball courts at the Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve. Dogs may be off-lead at all other areas of the reserve provided they are under control.
