Australia Day community event

Come along and join the Australia Day activities at Victory Park in Castlemaine from 10.30am to 1.30pm on Friday 26 January. Meet Australia Day Award recipients and welcome our newest Australian citizens. Enjoy a free barbecue lunch and family friendly entertainment including live music, a bouncy castle and face painting for kids. The celebration is supported by the Upper Loddon Indigenous group Nalderun.

Walk the botanical gardens

Join a free walking tour of the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens on Wednesday 31 January. Boost your health while you learn about the amazing history and flora in the 19th century gardens. The hour-long walk starts at 10.00am. Meet at the Botanical Gardens Tea Rooms, off Downes Street. The tour will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain or a Code Red day. The walk is organised by Castlemaine District Community Health (CDCH) in partnership with Council. For more information contact Liza Shaw at CDCH on 5479 1000.

December storm update

Council has worked with emergency services on the recovery effort following the severe storm that hit the shire in December. Our teams continue to assess roadsides and fallen trees. To report a dangerous tree or blocked public road please contact Council on 5471 1700 or raise an online service request through our website. It may take several weeks to respond to all requests.

Council thanks everyone involved in the emergency response and clean up for all your hard work and effort.
