Proposed disposal of Council property

Fitzgeralds Close Wesley Hill Business Park

Notice is given under Section 189 of the Local Government Act 1989 that Council intends to sell nine remaining lots in Fitzgeralds Close, Wesley Hill Business Park that are currently owned by Mount Alexander Shire Council. These are formally known as Lots 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 PS629772. A copy of a plan of the lots is available on Council’s website under the Have Your Say section.

This land was acquired and developed by Council for the purposes of sale for a business park.The land is to be sold by private treaty through Real Estate Agents appointed by Council. An anticipated sale timeframe for each of the lots is not yet known.
Prior to accepting any offers, Council will obtain an independent valuation in accordance with section 189 of the Local Government Act, and will not sell the land for less than this valuation amount.

Members of the public may wish to make a submission in accordance with Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989. Submissions should indicate whether the person or a person acting on their behalf wishes to be heard before Council.

Written submissions will be accepted until 5:00pm on Thursday 17 May 2018.

Submitters who wish to speak in support of their submission will be heard at the Ordinary Council Meeting at 6:30pm on Tuesday 19 May 2018 at the Civic Centre Castlemaine.

Roadworks along Sutton Grange-Redesdale Road

Construction works will soon begin to replace culverts along the Sutton Grange – Redesdale Road at Sutton Grange to improve drainage and reduce the impact of flooding from James Creek. The project will begin on Tuesday 1 May and be completed by the end of July. Due to the nature of the works, Sutton Grange-Redesdale Road will be closed to public traffic between Jennings Hill Road and Myrtle Creek Road during this time. Detours will be signposted. Local residents have been informed of the works. Council apologises for any inconvenience. For more information contact Janak Bharati, Project Engineer, on 5471 1765.

Learn about old native trees

Grab your walking shoes and head outdoors to discover the large old native trees growing at the Guildford Saddle Club as part of Council’s next Sustainable Living Workshop. Learn about these magnificent trees, how to care for them and the wildlife that live there. Presented by Tanya Loos from Connecting Country. Youth Week events

Help celebrate Victorian Youth Week at the 2TheXtreme Youthfest at the Western Oval/ Skate Park at Castlemaine from 12.00noon to 6.30pm. Enjoy skate, scooter, dance and parkour competitions, along with workshops, markets, live music and food. Find out more at www.2theextremefestival.com. The event is delivered by Council’s Youth Advisory Group and FReeZa Committee in partnership with XtremeInc Youth Projects.
