Roadworks along Sutton Grange-Redesdale Road

Detour on map

Monday 23 April 2018

Mount Alexander Shire Council will soon begin construction works to replace culverts on Sutton Grange – Redesdale Road to reduce the impact of flooding from James Creek.

The works in Sutton Grange also include rehabilitation of a 100 metre stretch of road.

Construction begins on Tuesday 1 May and will continue through to late July.

Due to the nature of the works a stretch of the road will be closed between Jennings Hill Road and Myrtle Creek Road.

Local traffic will be permitted up to the edge of construction site along Sutton Grange – Redesdale Road.

Nearby property owners and emergency services have been informed. Council apologises for the inconvenience.

A detour around the closed section of road will be along Bendigo – Sutton Grange Road, Metcalfe – Elphinstone Road, Metcalfe – Redesdale Road and Racecourse Road. Detour signage will be in place. Please allow an extra 20 minutes travel time.

The culverts were identified for rehabilitation as part of Council’s road and bridge assessment. Works were planned to avoid road closure during the High Fire Danger Period.

The $285,000 project is funded by the Australian Government’s Road to Recovery program.
