Free hands-on fermentation workshop

Fermented food in jars

Come along to a free workshop and learn how to make tasty and healthy fermented foods like kimchi and sauerkraut.

Thursday 3 May 2018

If you’re interested in learning tricks and tips for a perfect sauerkraut or kimchi, come along to Mount Alexander Shire Council’s next Sustainable Living workshop on fermenting foods.

Local food extraordinaire Nikki Valentini will lead the workshop and demonstrate a number of different ferments. Along with sauerkraut and kimchi she’ll show you how to make a gut health tonic, quick lacto-fermented vegetables, kefir, sourdough cultures and more.

“Autumn is a fantastic time to preserve the bounty of produce available. Fermenting is a great way to use and store seasonal produce to have throughout the winter months,” said Nikki.

“Fermented foods have a vast range of beneficial bacteria to assist with healthy functioning of your gut,” she said.

You’ll have the chance to taste test and make your own creation to take home, along with recipes.

Come along and join in this fun and free workshop.
