Have a say on town streetscapes

Council is developing streetscape designs for local communities based on priorities identified in community plans for Chewton, Campbells Creek, Guildford, Newstead and Taradale. The designs include things like tree plantings, traffic management, pedestrian safety and social spaces. View the designs and provide feedback at an upcoming workshop or at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay by 5.00pm on Friday 22 June.

•Taradale - 5.30pm on Wednesday 6 June at Taradale Wine and Produce, 120 High Street
•Chewton - 7.30pm on Wednesday 6 June at Castlemaine Goldfields FC Clubhouse, Chewton Soldiers Memorial Park, Fryers Road
•Guildford - 5.00pm on Thursday 7 June at Guildford Public Hall, 6 Templeton Street
•Campbells Creek - 7.30pm on Thursday 7 June at Campbells Creek Primary School, 127 Main Road
•Newstead - 5.30pm on Wednesday 13 June at Mechanics Hall, Newstead Community Centre, 9 Lyons Street.

Calling all cat owners

RSPCA Victoria's mobile cat desexing clinic will be at the Chewton Senior Citizens Centre this week until Friday 8 June. Qualified veterinary staff will desex cats for the reduced fee of $40 for males and $50 for females. The fee includes a free microchip (where required). Cats must be in good health and aged between 9 weeks and 10 years old. Book at rspcavic.eventbrite.com.au or call (03) 9224 2247.

Footpath works on Templeton Street

Works will soon begin on an upgrade to the footpath along the southern side of Templeton Street, between Kennedy and Barker streets, in Castlemaine. The works will take around six weeks. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Shade for play spaces

Council will install shade sails at two local playgrounds, with works starting in mid-June. A shade sail will be placed over the swing area at the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens. There will be restricted access to the swing area on Wednesday 13 and Monday 25 June while the post and shade sails are installed. There will also be restricted access at the Big Tree Park playground at Guildford on Thursday 14 and Monday 25 June. Trees will be planted at Big Tree Park to provide additional shade. The project is funded by a Victorian Government Community Shade Program grant.

Hearing Bus at Maldon

The Australian Hearing bus is heading to Maldon to offer free hearing checks for people over 18 years. Look out for the bus at the Maldon IGA on Main Street in Maldon from 9.30am to 4.00pm on Monday 18 June. Appointments are not necessary.
