Free leadership training in school holidays

Young people doing a creative training exercise

Thursday 21 June 2018

If you’re a young person interested in developing your leadership, communication and decision making skills, then make sure you sign up to a free training session that will be held during the upcoming school holidays.

The workshop is for people aged 12 to 25 years and coordinated in conjunction with Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Youth Advisory Group.

“The training is aimed at helping young people to develop skills and confidence to create a positive change in the community,” said Shannon Lacy, Youth Development Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“Come along and learn how to plan a community campaign or project, and gain the skills to implement it,” said Ms Lacy.

Youth Advisory Group member Jade Bujeya said she gained a lot from participating in the training last year.

“The workshop was a great opportunity and gave me confidence and skills that have been incredibly useful,” said Jade.

“Leadership and the ability to work as part of a team is something we often take for granted, but they are actually really important life skills that deserve the time and attention this workshop gives them,” she said.

Training will be held on Wednesday 4 July, 10.00am - 3.30pm at Mondo Lounge, 30 Templeton Street, Castlemaine. Lunch is provided.

To register contact Shannon Lacy, Council Youth Development Officer, on 5471 1826 or youth@mountalexander.vic.gov.au by Friday 29 June. Places are limited.

This training session is coordinated by Council and supported by the Victorian Government Engage! Program 2018-2020.
