Interruption to council phone service

We are still experiencing interruptions to our phone service due to an external fault but you can still contact us in a variety of ways.

An external fault is causing issues with the phone lines at Mount Alexander Shire Council but you can still contact us in a variety of ways.

Director Corporate and Community Services Lisa Knight said the general enquiry line on 5471 1700 is operating but you may not get through the first time.

“Please be patient as we process your call. We have a phone line operating but you may need to keep trying, or leave a message and we will get back to you. Remember you can also reach us in a number of ways,” said Ms Knight.

Other ways to contact council include:

• Email info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au
• Drop in to the Civic Centre on the corner of Lyttleton and Lloyd Streets in Castlemaine (open until 5pm every weekday)
• Make an online service request via the website
• Private message us on Facebook.

The phones to the Visitor Information Centre in Castlemaine are also affected.

Home care clients can call the usual number on 5471 1766 to contact the Community Wellbeing Team. The Maternal and Child Health Centre can be contacted on 5472 1364.

“Unfortunately, we are dealing with an external fault and are working with our supplier to have normal phone services restored as soon as possible,” said Ms Knight.

“Council apologises for the inconvenience and asks for your patience as we try and resolve the problem,” she said.
