Mount Alexander Shire Council has adopted its Annual Plan which outlines new projects and programs planned for the next 12 months.

“This year we have done something a little different with our Annual Plan, with a focus on major and new initiatives, rather than the many day-to-day services we provide,” said Bronwen Machin, Mayor of Mount Alexander Shire.

“This means our plan allows us to clearly identify the new projects that will help us achieve our vision of being innovative, creative and connected,” said Cr Machin.

“Throughout the year we’ll be revaluating the way that we prioritise and construct our gravel roads with the aim of ensuring our ongoing improvements to unsealed roads last longer. This will be welcome news for people who travel along unsealed roads in the shire.

“Young families around the shire will be able to enjoy the new play space planned for Victory Park, and we’ll work with the community to complete the designs for a play space at Stanley Park North at Harcourt.

“Many community members have been involved in developing the streetscape plans for Newstead, Campbells Creek, Chewton, Guildford, Taradale and Elphinstone. We’ll begin to implement these plans over the coming 12 months,” she said.

Work will also continue to improve the junior sporting hub at Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve, with the completion of the multi-use pavilion later this year.

Other actions in the annual plan are to create a Reconciliation Action Plan and further support positive mental health for young people.

All actions in the Annual Plan are linked to objectives listed in the four-year Council Plan, which involved feedback, input and suggestions from nearly 600 people in the community.
