Free green waste disposal period

Shire residents can dispose of green waste for free at the Castlemaine and Maldon waste facilities from Saturday 20 October to Sunday 4 November. Green waste includes grass clippings, wood and tree branches less than 10cm in diameter. The waste must be free of rubbish and declared noxious weeds. Residents are encouraged to use this opportunity to prepare their property for the fire season.

Community lunch venue

The community lunch run by Castlemaine Community House will be held at Camp Reserve while the Castlemaine Town Hall kitchen is upgraded. Head along for a delicious $5 lunch at 12.30pm every Tuesday until 18 December.

Council is seeking community feedback on the following draft policy and plans:
• Community Use of Public Assets Policy.
• Maldon streetscape plan and design guidelines.
• Mount Alexander Shire Early Years Plan.

Submissions are due by Sunday 21 October. Documents are available at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay or at the Civic Centre.

Boost online skills

If you’re over 50 and looking to improve your digital skills come along to Be Connected, a weekly catch up run by Council’s Social Support volunteers. The program, formerly known as Broadband for Seniors, is held every Monday from 9.00am to 12.00noon at the Castlemaine Town Hall on Lyttleton Street.

• 6.30pm, Tuesday 20 November.
Meetings are held at the Civic Centre.
