Wednesday 31 October 2018

Do you know someone who is making a real difference in our community?

Now is the time to put pen to paper or jump online and nominate a person or event for the Mount Alexander Shire Australia Day Awards.

The awards are a chance to recognise the contribution of our talented and generous community members who have made a difference in our shire.

“I’m sure everyone can think of a passionate volunteer or a wonderful community event they’ve attended over the last 12 months,” said Bronwen Machin, Mayor of Mount Alexander Shire.

“All you have to do is take a few minutes to complete a nomination form and submit it by Sunday 25 November,” she said.

The four categories are:

• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year (aged under 26 on 26 January 2019)
• Senior Citizen of the Year (aged over 65 years on 26 January 2019)
• Community Event of the Year.

Eligible Award nominees must live in Mount Alexander Shire, be an Australian citizen
and have given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.

Recipients will be announced at a community event on Australia Day at Victory Park.

Nomination forms are available on Council’s website at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/AustraliaDay. Printed copies are available from the Civic Centre or Visitor Information Centre on Castlemaine and Maldon.
