Plan Harcourt at market

Come along to the inaugural Harcourt Twilight Market from 4.00pm to 8.00pm on Saturday 24 November at James Park in Harcourt. While you browse local produce and craft stalls drop in for a chat with Council staff and find out more about the town planning project Plan Harcourt, and how you can get involved.

Go orange to end violence

Calling all local businesses! Go orange for 16 days to show support for gender equality and help drive change to prevent violence against women and girls. The best window display will win a $200 prize. For a chance to win, simply upload a photo of your window display to Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #RespectMA by Monday 10 December. Entries will be judged by Mount Alexander Family Violence Prevention Network. Get creative or pick up your starter kit from the Civic Centre in Castlemaine. The global campaign – 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence – runs from 25 November to 10 December.

Home library service

Did you know the Goldfields Library Corporation offers home library services to people who are unable to visit the library? Volunteers deliver selected or reserved items to the borrower’s home each month. To find out if you are eligible for the service or to register contact the library on 5449 2790 or homelibraryservice@ncgrl.vic.gov.au.

Inclusive Maldon

Everyone is invited to an information session to find out about the outcomes from Maldon's involvement in the Inclusive Towns Project. The project aims to improve accessibility and inclusiveness for people with disability. Council staff will also discuss disability access support services. It starts at 1.00pm on Wednesday 5 December at Maldon Community Centre, 6 Francis Street. The one-hour session will be held after the Maldon Community Lunch.

Solar information session

If you’re interested to learn about the new solar power installation rebate come along to an information session held by More Australian Solar Homes (MASH). The event will be held from 6.30pm to 8.00pm on Tuesday 20 November at the Castlemaine Senior Citizens Centre, Mechanics Lane. To reserve your place visit mash.org.au/events or call the MASH team on 1300 466 274.

Prepare now for summer

There are a few things you can do to protect yourself, your family, property and neighbours in the lead up to the Fire Danger Period. Make sure you have an emergency plan that outlines when to leave, where to go and what to take. To prepare your property clear rubbish away from around your home, cut grasses, clear gutters and relocate woodpiles away from buildings. Don't forget to check what your insurance covers. Australia Day Awards

If you know a local person who has given outstanding service to the community nominate them now for the 2019 Mount Alexander Shire Australia Day Awards. Categories are Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year and Event of the Year. Nominations close on Sunday 25 November. Collect native plant seed

Want to learn how to collect native plant seed? Come along to a two hour workshop and learn all the tips and permit requirements. The free session will be held from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday 24 November at Honeycomb Reserve, Honeycomb Road, Campbells Creek.
