Barker Street footpath improvements

A stretch of footpath along Barker Street in Castlemaine will be upgraded in May.

Thursday 18 April 2019

Works will being in early May to upgrade a 50 metre stretch of footpath along Barker Street outside Vinnies.

The footpath and kerb have been damaged by two semi-mature Oriental Plane trees located next to the Barker Street footpath.

The trees’ root systems have caused drainage issues and have lifted sections of the path.

The footpath, concrete kerb and channel will be repaired as part of the works and both trees will be removed. They will be replaced by a similar species and will be planted in a way to promote localised root growth.

The works will take about two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
