Wednesday 24 July 2019

Mount Alexander Shire Council is undertaking minor upgrade works at Castlemaine Transfer Station over the coming months.

The transfer station will operate during normal opening hours but customers are advised that certain areas will be cordoned off and temporary waste drop off procedures will be in place.

The works will improve customer safety and environmental management and include:

• New boundary fencing to better contain litter.
• New railing atop the existing rubbish drop wall to protect customers who are dropping off waste.
• Upgrades to the existing retaining wall to protect the wall from damage by machinery.
• New concrete slab for the waste drop area to reduce potential contamination of recyclables.
• Upgrades to the existing drainage network to improve runoff water quality.
• Improved traffic management and signage.

The works are planned to commence this week and will be completed in October. We appreciate your understanding during this time. We apologise for the inconvenience whilst we endeavour to provide a safer transfer station. Please follow instructions from staff and directional signs.

For more information contact Council on 5471 1700.
