Nominate your favourite business

Who is your favourite local business? Nominate them now in the Mount Alexander Business Awards. Enter the business awards

Once your business is nominated for the business awards you need to complete an entry form. This year Council is holding two workshops to help you complete your entry. The workshops will be held from 5.45pm to 8.15pm on Monday 16 September and 9.15am to 11.45am on Tuesday 17 September at the Civic Centre. Book your place via www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/BusinessResources or contact Marg Barry, Business Awards Officer, on 5471 1700.

Battle of the Bands

People of all ages are welcome to come along to the Battle of the Bands. Musicians aged 12 to 25 years will compete for great prizes. The event will be held from 6.30pm to 10.30pm on Friday 13 September at the Theatre Royal, Castlemaine. Tickets cost $10 / $5 concession, and are available on the night. The event is presented by Council’s FReeZA Committee.

Do you have a pool?

The Victorian Government proposes to change safety rules for backyard pools and spas. You can have a say on the changes at www.engage.vic.gov.au by searching ‘New safety standards private pools’. Have your say by 5.00pm on Friday 6 September.

Head to the market

Don’t forget our Young Makers’ Market will be held on Father’s Day. People aged 12-25 years will sell handmade jewellery, horticulture, art, cosmetics, crafts and more. The market will be held from 9.00am to 1.00pm on Sunday 1 September at the Theatre Royal Brickyard, 30 Hargraves Street, Castlemaine.

Campbells Creek tree project

Council will soon start a program to improve the health and condition of trees planted along the Campbells Creek Avenue of Honour. This includes removing hazardous trees and branches, pruning over-extended branches, removing poor-growing trees and planting new trees. For more information contact our Parks and Gardens Team.

Maldon VIC reopens soon

The Maldon Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is closed for minor renovation works. It will reopen on Monday 2 September. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Committee AGM

The Camp Reserve Special Committee of Council will hold its Annual General Meeting at 6.00pm on Monday 16 September at the Camp Reserve Football Clubrooms. Everyone is welcome to attend.
