Would you like to tap into tourism opportunities in Mount Alexander Shire?

Local businesses, attractions and event organisers are invited to a tourism information session and networking event to find out how to get involved in marketing opportunities through Council’s Tourism Memberships Program.

“The session will include a snapshot of tourism in Mount Alexander Shire and an overview of the region’s new tourism website,” said Sharna Crosbie, Tourism Marketing and Development Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

“There will also be the chance to share ideas on how we can collaborate to promote our shire as a destination,” she said.

Council recently launched a new regional website in partnership with Bendigo Regional Tourism, to help visitors to research and book their trip across four council areas in Central Victoria.

The website brings new opportunities for local events, attractions and businesses such as accommodations providers, cafés, pubs, breweries, local producers and retailers to be promoted on the website.

“With the latest information on local events, and places to eat, drink and stay it’s the place to go if you’re looking for things to see and do, or if you have family or friends visiting,” said Sharna.

“We’ve also taken this opportunity to revamp our Tourism Memberships Program to give our partners better value through print and digital marketing channels, as well as cooperative marketing opportunities through our partnerships with Bendigo Regional Tourism and Visit Victoria.”

Sharna started her role to develop tourism in Mount Alexander Shire in May, bringing with her many years of experience including her recent role at Destination Melbourne and prior product development experience with a luxury travel company.

“One thing that excites me about this region is the diversity and quality of experiences on offer here. There are so many talented people behind the scenes pouring their passion and creativity into their craft. I want to promote these stories as a driver for visitation to Mount Alexander Shire,” said Sharna.

“Our tourism networking event will be a great opportunity to meet different members of our tourism team from Castlemaine and Maldon.

“We hope to get a great turn out to celebrate the launch of our new website and open up the discussion around how we can support and promote your tourism business,” she said.

The session will be held from 6.00pm to 8.00 pm on Tuesday 1 October at Boomtown Wine, Shed 10/9 Walker St, Castlemaine. Book your place by 26 September at bit.ly/MtAlexBoxOffice.
