Coronavirus update

Community members are urged to take precautions to minimise the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Good hygiene can prevent infection. Wash your hands with soap and water, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or your elbow when you sneeze or cough. If you suspect you may have coronavirus call the dedicated hotline on 1800 675 398. For health alerts, tips on how to reduce your risk of contracting the illness and to subscribe to updates visit www.dhhs.vic.gov.au or www.health.gov.au.

Aged care forums cancelled

Council has cancelled two aged care community forums scheduled for Thursday 19 March, due to the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Health authorities have advised all non-essential, organised gatherings of 500 or more people should be cancelled from Monday 16 March. Council has taken the precaution of cancelling the aged care forums given older persons and those with chronic illnesses are more vulnerable to the coronavirus. Staff will now take steps to gain feedback on aged care services from clients, carers and interested parties using other methods such as phone and email. To register your interest to provide feedback on aged care services contact Council on 5471 1700.

Local events may be cancelled

Please note that at the time of printing the following events are scheduled to proceed. Council will make an effort to inform the community should events be cancelled. Registered participants will be contacted.

Council has extended the date for public submissions to 5.00pm on Thursday 9 April. For more information and how to make a submission visit the Have your say section of Council’s website or contact Lynne Williamson, Property Portfolio Coordinator, on 5471 1700 or l.williamson@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.
