Satisfaction survey underway

Households are encouraged to participate in the 2021 Community Satisfaction Survey to provide feedback on the service-delivery performance of Council. The annual state-wide telephone survey is carried out by independent market research agency National Field Surveys, across a random representative sample of at least 400 residents. If you receive a call over the next few weeks, please take the time to provide your feedback. It will be used to help identify areas for improvement in the programs and services we deliver. Saint Street drainage works

Saint Street in Castlemaine will be closed to through traffic between Barker Street and Wheeler Street from Monday 8 to Friday 12 February while drainage works are underway. Local residents will have access to their homes at all times via Wheeler Street. Council apologises for the inconvenience. For more information contact Graeme Barnes, Project Manager, on 5471 1700.

Chewton footpath upgrade

Works will soon begin to upgrade footpaths along the northern and southern sides of Main Street (Pyrenees Highway) in Chewton. An 880 metre section of footpath will be upgraded between Adelaide and Railway streets on the southern side of the road. A 240 metre section will be upgraded on the northern side of the road, from the General Store to Angus Street. Traffic management will be in place during the project. Work is planned to be completed in May, weather permitting. Care will be taken to minimise the impact to residents and local businesses. This project has received funding from the 2020 TAC Local Government Grant Program.

Share your NDIS experience

Council is carrying out a feasibility study into the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) within our shire. We want to understand and receive feedback from people living with a disability, and their carers, about how they have found the NDIS, the availability of services and information. The study will inform Council’s decision regarding the potential to provide NDIS services in future. Join the conversation at one of our community forums.

Community forums - Castlemaine
Forums will be held from 10.00am to 12noon; 3.00pm to 5.00pm and 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Thursday 25 February. They will be held at the Castlemaine Town Hall in Lyttleton Street. Enter via Frederick Street.

Community forum - Maldon
Held from 10.30am to 12noon on Friday 26 February at Maldon Neighbourhood Centre, 6 Francis Street.
RSVP is not required. COVIDSafe restrictions will be in place.

Complete a survey
You can also complete a survey about your experience with the NDIS via www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. Printed surveys will soon be available from the Castlemaine Library and Civic Centre. You can also call our Community Wellbeing team to have a survey posted to you. If you would prefer to speak directly to the person leading this project, arrange a time to chat by phoning the Community Wellbeing Team on 5471 1766.

Grants update

Our Community Grants and Get Lost Activation Grants are open until Monday 15 February. Events Grants will open on Monday 15 February. Find out more or apply at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/grants.

Council meeting

The next Council Meeting will be open to the public. It will be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday 16 February at the Town Hall in Lyttleton Street in Castlemaine (entry via Frederick Street). COVIDSafe restrictions will be in place. The meeting will also be broadcast live to YouTube. Members of the public may raise a question at the meeting or send a question to Council’s Governance Team, PO Box 185, Castlemaine 3450 VIC, or email governance@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.
