Update on return to Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions

Council offices are temporarily closed from 5.00pm today until 8.30am on Thursday 18 February, following the Victorian Government’s ‘Circuit Breaker Action’ announcement today.

Following the Victorian Government’s ‘Circuit Breaker Action’ announcement today regarding a return to Stage 4 restrictions, Mount Alexander Shire Council offices will temporarily close from 5.00pm today until 8.30am on Thursday 18 February, pending further health advice.

The closure applies to the Civic Centre, Visitor Information Centres, and council venues, community and recreation facilities. Parks and playgrounds remain open for exercise in line with the latest restrictions. Public toilets will remain open.

The Council Meeting planned for 6.30pm on Tuesday 16 February at Castlemaine Town Hall will be broadcast via YouTube. It will no longer be open to the public. To raise a question for public question time please send it to the Governance Team via PO Box 185, Castlemaine 3450 VIC, or email governance@mountalexander.vic.gov.au by 12 noon on Tuesday.

During the closure Council will continue to deliver essential services and staff will be available for customer service queries by phone, email and online. Contact us in several ways:

• Email us at info@mountalexander.vic.gov.au for a general query
• Call us on 5471 1700 between 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday,
• Make a payment online, by phone, or via BPAY at www.bpay.com.au.

Council will continue to deliver essential services including meals on wheels, in-home help, household bin collection, planning applications, building services, maternal and child health, and immunisations, local laws, public safety, environmental health and emergency management. Background

The Victorian Government today announced that Victoria will enter a five-day lockdown from 11.59pm Friday 12 February until 11.59pm on Wednesday 17 February.

This means:

• There are only four reasons to leave home: to shop for essential supplies, for care and caregiving, exercise and essential work.
• Exercise and shopping is limited to 5km from home.
• Masks are mandatory indoors and outdoors. No visitors are allowed at home.
