COVID-19 update

Our offices are temporarily closed until 8.30am on Thursday 18 February, following the Victorian Government's Circuit Breaker announcement. Under the Stage 4 restrictions, the Civic Centre, Visitor Information Centres, and council venues, community and recreation facilities will be closed. Parks and playgrounds remain open for exercise in line with the latest restrictions. Public toilets remain open.

Staff are continuing to deliver essential services and are available for customer service queries by phone on 5471 1700, email and via our website.

Satisfaction survey underway

Households are encouraged to participate in the 2021 Community Satisfaction Survey to provide feedback on the service-delivery performance of Council. The annual telephone survey is carried out across a random representative sample of at least 400 residents. If you receive a call please take the time to provide feedback.

Road naming in Vaughan

Council has received a request to name an unnamed laneway off Burgoyne Street in Vaughan. The requestor has asked for the laneway to be named Hunts Lane, after Mrs Hunt, who lived adjacent to the laneway for more than 30 years. Any persons who have a familial link to the naming proposal or object to the proposed name have thirty (30) days to notify Council in writing. Local businesses are encouraged to be part of the updated Castlemaine, Maldon & Surrounds Official Visitor Guide. The guide highlights key destinations, experiences, and local businesses to hundreds of thousands of visitors. Bookings close on Monday 1 March.

Share your NDIS experience

Come along to a community forum or complete a survey and share your experiences of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The responses will be used in a feasibility study to inform Council’s decision regarding the potential to provide NDIS services in future.

Community forums - Castlemaine - held from 10.00am to 12noon; 3.00pm to 5.00pm and 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Thursday 25 February at the Castlemaine Town Hall in Lyttleton Street. Enter via Frederick Street.

Community forum - Maldon - held from 10.30am to 12noon on Friday 26 February at Maldon Community Centre, 6 Francis Street.

RSVP is not required. COVIDSafe restrictions will be in place.

Council meeting

The Council Meeting planned for 6.30pm on Tuesday 16 February at Castlemaine Town Hall will be closed to the public in line with the Victorian Government's Circuit Breaker announcement. It will be broadcast via YouTube. Search Mount Alexander Shire Council.
