Chewton footpath upgrade

Works will soon begin to upgrade footpaths along the northern and southern sides of Main Street (Pyrenees Highway) in Chewton. An 880 metre section of footpath will be upgraded between Adelaide and Railway streets on the southern side of the road. A 240 metre section will be upgraded on the northern side of the road, from the General Store to Angus Street. Traffic management will be in place during the project. Work is planned to be completed in May, weather permitting. Care will be taken to minimise the impact to residents and local businesses. This project has received funding from the 2020 TAC Local Government Grant Program.

Have your say on Frederick Street

Council is seeking community feedback on concept designs to upgrade Frederick Street and Mechanics Lane in Castlemaine. The plan includes creating a shared street to allow safer access for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. It also focuses on improving the amenity of the area through landscaping, street furniture and lighting, all while maintaining historical characteristics.

We are hosting two drop-in sessions for you to discuss the designs with our team. Drop in between 4.00pm and 5.30pm; or 6.00pm and 7.30pm on Thursday 4 March at Ray Bradfield Room at Victory Park in Castlemaine.
The plans are on display at the Castlemaine Library foyer, Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre on Mostyn Street, along the fence on Mechanics Lane, and on Council’s website at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay.

Provide your feedback via a short survey on our website or at the Civic Centre by 5.00pm on Monday 22 March. For more information contact Kerrie Eldridge, Project Engineer, on 5471 1756 or k.eldridge@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.
