Council is seeking community feedback on concept designs to upgrade Frederick Street and Mechanics Lane in Castlemaine. The plan includes creating a shared precinct to allow safer access for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. It also focuses on improving the amenity of the area through landscaping, street furniture and lighting, all while maintaining historical characteristics.

Drop-in session: Come along and discuss the designs with our team. Drop in between 4.00pm and 5.30pm; or 6.00pm and 7.30pm on Thursday 4 March at Ray Bradfield Room at Victory Park in Castlemaine.

The plans are on display at the Castlemaine Library foyer, Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre on Mostyn Street, along the fence on Mechanics Lane, and on Council’s website at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. Complete a short survey on our website or at the Civic Centre by 5.00pm on Monday 22 March. Thank you to those who came along to a community forum on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) last week. You can still share your experiences of the NDIS via a survey. Collect a survey from the library or Civic Centre, or complete the survey online via www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. To have a survey posted to you or to speak with the person leading this project phone our Community Wellbeing team on 5471 1766.

Central Vic PCP wants to know how well you and your community managed through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Complete a survey and let them know what worked, the main challenges and your ideas on how to provide support to people who need it most. Once you complete the survey you can choose to go into a draw to win one of two $100 supermarket vouchers. The survey is available at www.centralvicpcp.com.au/survey.

Any person who may be affected by the granting of the permit may object or make other submissions to the Responsible Authority. An objection or submission can be lodged online via Greenlight or can be sent to the Responsible Authority in writing, addressed to:

An objection must include the reasons for the objection and state how the objector would be affected. The Responsible Authority must make a copy of every objection available at its office for any person to inspect during office hours free of charge until the end of the period during which an application may be made for review of a decision on the application.

The Responsible Authority will not decide on the application before:

Council is seeking volunteers to join our teams at the Castlemaine and Maldon Visitor Information Centres (VIC). Share your local knowledge and offer a friendly face to visitors who come to our region. Along with good communication and customer service skills, you will need to commit to a minimum of one shift (four hours) each fortnight at the VIC and attend monthly training opportunities with our great team of community members. The next Council Meeting will be open to the public. It will be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday 16 March at the Town Hall in Lyttleton Street in Castlemaine (entry via Frederick Street).
