Exhibition Program

Mount Alexander Shire Council are excited to open Expressions of Interest (EOI) for local artists, groups, and organisations to exhibit their works in the Phee Broadway Theatre Foyer.

The exhibition program supports a diverse and rich program of works from individual artists, group shows and community organisations.

Location

Phee Broadway Theatre Foyer, Mechanics Lane, 212 Barker St, Castlemaine VIC 3450

Open to the public

Monday to Wednesday 10am – 6pm
Thursday 10am – 8pm
Friday 10am – 6pm
Saturday 9.30am – 3pm

Exhibition space
The proposed artwork must fit within the display areas. There are 3 walls available for use in total:

  • 2 x wall panels - 3m wide x 1.5m tall
  • 1 x wall panel - 3m wide x 2m tall

The work is hung on a professional hanging system. The height of the hanging rail allows for single and double hanging.

Duration and staffing
The foyer of the Castlemaine Phee Broadway Theatre is not staffed or supervised so all artwork is exhibited at the artists’ or organisations’ own risk. Each exhibition is generally allocated 4-6 weeks, though requests are considered for shorter or longer periods.

Commissions and sales
Each exhibition should be accompanied by a listing of works or catalogue and include contact details for the public. Any sales or enquiries should be made directly with the artist or organisation as Council does not act as an agent. Should there be any sales of artwork as a result of the exhibition Council will not take any commission.

Launches and other events associated with the exhibition
If you wish to have any associated events to support the exhibition, such as an artist talk or opening, please make this proposal at the point of submitting the EOI. Any associated activities will ideally occur on a Thursday evening before 8pm and will be confirmed with the applicant if successful. Use of the foyer floor space for exhibition launches, artist talks or readings must be booked and confirmed prior to any promotional material being distributed.
