Footpath Construction for Gaffney – Reckleben Street

Project aim

Mount Alexander Shire Council is focused on improving accessibility and encouraging walking throughout the shire through the continued improvement of its footpath network. As part of these improvements, a new pathway is to be constructed for Gaffney – Reckleben Street, Castlemaine.

Project outline

The project includes construction of an asphalt & concrete pathway and gravel trail for Gaffney – Reckleben Street from Bowden Street to Domain Drive.

The scope of works is:
• Construction of asphalt & concrete pathway from Bowden Street to Heather Drive.
• Construction of gravel trail from Heather Drive to Chapmans Road intersection.
• Construction of asphalt pathway from Chapmans Road intersection to Domain Drive.

Where are we now?

The contract for this footpath construction work has been awarded to Maine Civil Pty Ltd. Construction works are due to commence by the middle of May 2023. Expected date of completion is end of July 2023, weather permitting.

To undertake these works in a safe and efficient manner traffic management will be required. Access to affected properties will be maintained during the course of the works and care will be taken to minimize the impact of the works.
