Mount Alexander Shire is a great place to experience a diverse range of arts and culture events, theatre, performance, music, exhibitions, galleries, artist studios, film and venues.

Regional Centre for Culture 2018

Get involved in the Regional Centre for Culture

Mount Alexander Shire is proudly partnering with Creative Victoria and the Dja Dja Wurrung people on the first Victorian Regional Centre for Culture 2018.
Local artists and creatives are invited to come along to an information session and learn how you can participate in the Regional Centre for Culture.

The Regional Centre for Culture 2018 is an initiative of the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria in partnership with the Dja Dja Wurrung Aboriginal Clans Corporation, Mount Alexander Shire Council, Central Goldfields Shire, City of Greater Bendigo and Hepburn Shire.

Regional Centre for Culture is a year-long celebration of arts, culture and community in Victoria's regions.
Inspired by a European Union 'Capital of Culture' initiative, the Regional Centre for Culture program will focus on encompassing the City of Greater Bendigo, Mount Alexander Shire, Central Goldfields Shire and Hepburn Shire. Our area has been named the first Regional Centre for Culture because of its significant reputation in the arts, creativity and community expression

The inaugural Regional Centre for Culture in 2018 will shine a spotlight on local creativity, culture and events. The program will also include specially commissioned artworks, activities and community-based projects by local artists as well as leading Victorian creative practitioners.

The Regional Centre for Culture is one of the most significant arts and cultural programs to be established in regional Victoria.
