Road closures in Castlemaine

Saint Street and Greenhill Avenue in Castlemaine are temporarily closed to traffic between Barker and Wheeler streets while works are undertaken to improve drainage in the vicinity. Property access will be maintained for residents. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September. Council apologises for the inconvenience. For more information contact the Engineering Team on 5471 1700.

Get involved in Seniors Festival

It’s time to start planning for this year’s Seniors Festival celebration in October. Seniors Week will launch with a Seniors Expo, showcasing local not-for-profit clubs and organisations that work with or for seniors.

Complete an expression of interest form to apply to be part of the Seniors Expo (Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October), list your event on the Seniors Festival program or apply for an event grant up to $200.

Collect a form from Castlemaine Community House (CCH) at 65 Templeton Street, Castlemaine or on their website or from Maldon Neighbourhood Centre on the corner of Church and Edwards streets, Maldon.

Submit your form by 5.00pm on Friday 6 August. For more information contact CCH on 5472 4842.

Discount cat desexing

Council is working with Mount Alexander Animal Welfare (MAAW) and local vet clinics to provide low income earners with discounted cat de-sexing to help prevent unwanted litters.

Cat owners who are healthcare card or pensioner card holders and live in the shire can pay $50 to have their female cat de-sexed or just $30 for a male.

Vouchers are available at the Civic Centre, MAAW shelter in Castlemaine or at Castlemaine Vet Clinic, Healthy Pets and Maldon Pets.
