Mondo Lounge Barista Training

Smiling students with their barista training certificates.

There are now nine more people in town who can make a winning cup of coffee following the recent Mondo Lounge barista course.

Thursday 27 September 2018

Nine young people completed their two day barista course this week, as part of Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Mondo Lounge youth program.

The popular course was facilitated by Das Kaffeehaus’s, Lucy Kelly-Norris who showed the team all the details on grinder functions, foaming milk, coffee production, customer service skills and more.

After a day of training the young people organised and ran a pop up café for 2.5 hours, serving more than 50 people where they put their newly-learnt skills to use.

“The standard of coffee coming out of the Mondo Lounge pop up shop was amazing,” said Jodie Hearn, Council’s Youth Activities Officer.

“Parents and carers agreed that the skills learnt throughout the course would help the young people to get a foot in the hospitality industry,” said Ms Hearn.

“The course was so popular that we’ll be running another one in the summer holidays so please get in touch if you’d like to be involved,” she said.

Thank you to Das Kaffeehaus for supporting the course and providing such high quality coffee beans.
