Join Australia Day activities at Victory Park in Castlemaine from 10.30am to 1.30pm on Saturday 26 January. Meet Australia Day Award recipients and welcome our newest Australian citizens.

Enjoy a free barbecue lunch and family friendly entertainment including live music, a bouncy castle and face painting for kids. The community event is supported by the Upper Loddon Indigenous group Nalderun.

Impounded - Council Officers impounded seven mixed breed sheep, found in Faraday. If the sheep are not claimed and expenses paid by Tuesday 29 January 2019, Council intends to sell the impounded sheep by public auction at the Bendigo Livestock Exchange at 10am on Monday 4 February 2019. Applications for Council’s Community Grants Program will open soon. Council has revised the program in response to community feedback. Changes include two rounds of funding each year, a simplified application process, and the option of small grants
(up to $3000) and partnership grants (up to $10,000 over three years).

Applications for 2019 projects open on Tuesday 29 January and close on Friday 18 February. Join a free walking tour of the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens on Wednesday 30 January. Boost your health while you learn about the history and flora in the 19th century gardens.

The hour-long walk starts at 10.00am. Meet at the Botanical Gardens Former Tea Rooms, off Downes Street. The walk is organised by Castlemaine District Community Health (CDCH) in partnership with Council. It will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain
