Marketing workshop

Come along to our next small business workshop and learn how to make your business stand out from the crowd. You’ll take away practical tools, templates and tips on market research, websites, social media and customer service. The workshop will be held from 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Monday 15 July at the Civic Centre. Cost $20. Book via www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/BusinessResources. Council is delivering the workshop in partnership with State Government – Small Business Victoria.

Learn about Council grants

Come along to an information session to learn about Council grants to support community projects and events. Sessions will be held at 10.00am on Friday 19 July at Castlemaine Town Hall, 10.00am on Monday 22 July at Maldon Community Centre, and 6.00pm on Monday 22 July at the Civic Centre.

Accessible carpark upgrade

Works are underway to upgrade four carparks in Castlemaine to meet Australian accessibility standards. The carparks are located on Lyttleton and Templeton streets. The works will be completed by late July. The carparks will be unavailable during this time. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Pop-up library

Castlemaine Library is temporarily relocating to the Market Building in Mostyn Street while building works are underway. The pop-up library will open on Wednesday 10 July.

The library is accepting contributions for a time capsule that will be buried beneath the floor. Pop in and complete a form or drop off a letter to future generations. Submissions close Monday 22 July.

A number of government grants are available to local farmers and primary producers including:
On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme provides a rebate for on-farm water infrastructure for animal welfare. Visit www.ruralfinance.com.au
Technical and decision-making support assists farm businesses manage drought and dry seasonal conditions. Visit http://agriculture.vic. gov.au/dryseasons
Rural Financial Counselling Service provides free financial counselling to primary producers, fishers and small rural businesses. Phone 1300 769 489
Farm Household Allowance provides income support for eligible farm businesses experiencing financial hardship. Visit www.humanservices.gov.au
Commonwealth Concessional Loans for drought and farm investment, delivered by the Regional Investment Corporation. Visit www.ric.gov.au/farmers/drought.

Baringhup solar farm hearings

Planning Panels Victoria is holding a Panel Hearing relating to the proposed solar farm in Baringhup. The Panel Hearing will be held at 10.00am on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 July at Bill Woodfull Recreation Reserve in Maldon, and 10.00am on Tuesday 23 July at Baringhup Hall. The hearings are open to the public.

An application for a planning permit (PA054/2019) regarding the development of land for a supermarket and shop has been made which may affect you. For more information read the notification in the public notices today.
