The new bridge on Eagles Road was opened on 23 February 2021.
The bridge provides safe access for pedestrians and motorists as they travel within Harcourt.
The 20 tonne load limit has been removed, allowing access for heavy vehicles including fire fighting vehicles. The new bridge also includes a pedestrian footpath on the eastern side, extended guard rails and crash terminals. Rock beaching was added to prevent erosion and the waterway was widened slightly to increase water flow under the bridge and reduce the risk of flooding.
The new bridge will now cater for an increase in traffic as the town’s population grows to the north of Harcourt.
