English Oak is tree-mendous!

The mighty and majestic 158 year-old English Oak tree located in the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens has been nominated as the 2021 Victorian Tree of the Year.
The annual competition hosted by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) invites people of all ages to vote for their favourite tree.

Kennedy Street fencing upgrade

Council is removing and replacing the fencing along the west side of the Kennedy Street, between the Castlemaine Train station and the Girl Guides Hall.
Work is due to start in late April weather permitting, and will take approximately three weeks to complete.
During this time, commuters are encouraged to utilise the off-street car parking available to the north of the station.

Budget 2021/2022

Each year we prepare a budget and give you the opportunity to review the draft and make a submission. The key dates in the process are:

• 6.30pm, Tuesday 20 April: Ordinary Meeting of Council to consider proposed budget
• 12.00pm, Wednesday 21 April: Proposed budget goes on public exhibition
• 5.00pm, Wednesday 19 May: Closing date for public submissions
• 5.30pm, Tuesday 25 May: Special Meeting of Council to hear budget submissions
• 6.30pm, Tuesday 15 June: Adopt 2021/2022 Budget at an Ordinary Meeting of Council.

Look out for the proposed budget on our website mountalexander.vic.gov.au/budget.
A summary of the proposed budget will be advertised in the Midland Express in May. Proposed dates may change.

Council meeting

The next Council meeting will be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday 20 April. It will be held at the Castlemaine Town Hall in Lyttleton Street
and everyone is welcome to attend.
The meeting will also be livestreamed to YouTube. Search Mount Alexander Shire Council.
