Ideas for a sustainable future

Have you got great ideas about how our communities in Mount Alexander Shire can reduce carbon emissions and prepare for climate change? We want to hear from you!

Budget submissions due

A reminder that ratepayers and residents have until 5.00pm on Wednesday 19 May to make a submission on Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Proposed Budget 2021/2022. It can be viewed during office hours at the Civic Centre, the Castlemaine Library or on Council’s website at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/Budget.

Jump on your bike

Get moving on Sunday 9 May at a free Healthy Heart of Victoria community bike ride exploring the Campbells Creek Trail. The ride is an initiative of CycleSafe Mount Alexander, and will depart at 10.00am from the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens tea rooms. Call Penny for more information on 0408 002 032.

Workshops for business

Council is offering a range of workshops for local businesses to help people develop practical tools for managing mental health. The sessions are part of the Mindfit at Work program, and are held monthly.

Catch new works at The Phee

Join local artist Alex Kelly and collaborator David Pledger on Wednesday 5 May at The Phee Broadway Theatre in Castlemaine as they discuss their multi-platform art piece, The Things We Did Next.

The event features a guided listening of their current work in progress, a sound feature titled The Planting. The event starts at 6.00pm and is part of the At Home Phee Broadway Theatre creative residency program.

Do you love walking?

Newstead 2021, CHIRP, Healthy Heart of Victoria and Council are looking to create an ongoing weekly walking group in Newstead. We are seeking interested people to be involved in our groups. For more information call Liza at CHIRP Community Health on 5479 1000.
