Upgrade to busy pedestrian intersection

Castlemaine intersection

Works will soon begin to improve pedestrian access at the busy Barker and Forest streets intersection at Castlemaine.

Thursday 5 April 2018

Pedestrian crossings and adjacent footpaths on the Barker and Forest streets intersection at Castlemaine will be upgraded, with works starting early this month.

The works will improve the footpath and crossings at the busy intersection to make it more pedestrian friendly.

The intersection was identified for upgrade by Mount Alexander Shire Disability Advocacy Group (MASDAG) and Council officers.

The construction work will impact on pedestrian access through the intersection. Alternative routes will be signposted for pedestrians, including access for wheelchair users and people with prams.

Works are expected to be completed by late May. The works will have minimal impact on vehicle traffic travelling along Barker and Forest Streets.

The project is jointly funded by Council and VicRoads.
