Permit process simplified in updated water plan

Mount Alexander Shire Council has updated its Waste Water Action Management Plan to make it easier and clearer for owners of property in an unsewered areas to understand the information required when applying for a planning or septic permit.

The plan incorporates the requirements of Ministerial Guidelines in relation to managing waste water and aims to limit the impact of domestic wastewater on the environment and drinking water supplies.

Council’s Senior Environmental Health Officer Tracey Watson said the plan provides Council with strategic a direction to manage wastewater while providing benefits to property owners.

“We expect this updated approach will save property owners time and costs, as the plan now includes a matrix to clearly outline the expectations and requirements for people applying for permits,” said Ms Watson.

“If you’re considering applying for a planning or septic permit we encourage you to get in touch with the Environment Health team to discuss your application and clarify what you’ll need to submit,” she said.
