Change to Taradale standpipe hours

Access hours to the standpipe at Taradale will change from Friday 11 May. The new hours are 8.00am to 8.00pm from Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday and Sunday. The change aims to reduce the noise and impact on neighbours from vehicles collecting water late at night and early mornings. Road closure along Sutton Grange-Redesdale Road

Works are now underway to replace culverts along Sutton Grange – Redesdale Road at Sutton Grange to improve drainage and reduce the impact of flooding from James Creek. The construction site, between Jennings Hill Road and Myrtle Creek Road, will be closed to traffic until the end of July. Detours are signposted. Please allow additional travel time. 2018/2019 Proposed Budget

Council has released its 2018/2019 Proposed Budget and is encouraging public submissions. The $37.04 million budget aims to maintain and improve infrastructure, and deliver more than 100 services to the community in the year ahead. Hard copies are available at the Civic Centre, Castlemaine Library, Visitor Information Centres and Newstead Rural Information Centre. Submissions close at 5.00pm on Wednesday 23 May.

Join the LGBTIQ roundtable

People interested in joining Mount Alexander Shire community’s LGBTIQ roundtable have until 5.00pm on Monday 7 May to submit an Expression of Interest. The roundtable aims to support LGBTIQ people in our community to have equal access and support from Council and other organisations. Nomination forms and the Terms of Reference are available at the Have your say section of Council’s website.

End of Fire Danger Period

The CFA District 2 has advised the Fire Danger Period for our shire has now ended. For more information visit the Fire Prevention section of our website.

Community bus service trial

Take part in the community bus service trial and book your flexible door to door service. The service runs between Maldon and Castlemaine, and links to existing PTV services. The trial runs until Friday 11 May. Phone 5475 2093 to be picked up at your home for trips within and to Castlemaine, Maldon and Baringhup. Gold coin donation.
