Everyone is invited to a one-hour community forum in Maldon to ask Councillors questions and provide feedback on Council activities. The forum will be held from 6.00pm to 7.00pm on Tuesday 29 May at the Maldon Community Centre at 6 Francis Street. Council is developing streetscape designs for local communities based on priorities identified in community plans for Chewton, Campbells Creek, Guildford, Newstead and Taradale. The designs include elements such as tree plantings, traffic management, pedestrian safety and social spaces. View the designs and provide feedback at an upcoming consultation session or at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/HaveYourSay. Draft designs will be available online from Wednesday 30 May. RSPCA Victoria's mobile cat desexing clinic will be at the Chewton Senior Citizens Centre from Monday June 4 to Friday June 8. Qualified veterinary staff will desex cats for the reduced fee of $40 for males and $50 for females. The fee includes a free microchip (where required). Cats must be in good health and aged between 9 weeks and 10 years old. Book at rspcavic.eventbrite.com.au or call (03) 9224 2247.

Council will demolish and replace two old bridges at Taradale and Faraday in June. The works will remove current bridge load limits. The bridge on Bubbs Lane in Faraday will be closed to all traffic from Monday 4 June for about three weeks. A detour will be in place via Old Chapel Lane, with a purpose built detour road along the Coliban water channel. Please note the detour is not suitable for heavy vehicles. The bridge on Old Drummond Road near Shirley Drive at Taradale will be closed to all traffic from Monday 18 June for around four weeks. Road closures will be signposted. Works will soon start on an upgrade to the footpath along the southern side of Templeton Street, between Kennedy and Barker streets, in Castlemaine. The works will begin on Monday 4 June and will take around six weeks. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Business operators have been informed of the works.
