Come and chat to your local councillor

Thursday 21 June 2018

Do you have a question for councillors in Mount Alexander Shire? Would you like to provide feedback on a council program or service?

Come along to a council listening post around the shire, or join the next councillor community forum at Taradale Hall from 6.00pm to 7.00pm on Tuesday 24 July.

“We are always interested in hearing feedback from residents and rate payers to look at what is working and how we can improve our services,” said Cr Bronwen Machin, Mayor of Mount Alexander Shire.

“Councillors hold regular listening posts in different wards throughout the shire, and we hold a councillor community forum in a different town on a quarterly basis.

“This is your chance to come and have a chat to your elected council representatives about what you see as a priority,” she said.

A recent council survey found that community members are interested in hearing more about council meeting decisions.

To help keep people up-to-date listening posts will be held at the Maxi IGA Supermarket Building in Castlemaine from 3.00pm to 5.00pm on the Thursday after each monthly Council meeting.

A monthly listening post will be held at Chewton General Store from 8.30am to 10.30am on the fourth Friday of the month. The next one with Cr Max Lesser and Cr Christine Henderson is coming up on Friday 27 July.

Cr Henderson has moved her listening post at Elphinstone Post Office and General Store to 9.00am to 11.00am on the first Saturday of the month.

Residents in Maldon can find Cr Stephen Gardner outside the Wheel and Loom Building from 10.00am to 12.00noon on the second Sunday of the month. Cr John Nieman is often at the Rural Transaction Centre in Newstead on Thursday mornings, and is happy to meet by arrangement at a local café in Guildford or Newstead.

Community members are invited to attend monthly council meetings which include public question time. The meeting schedule, agendas and minutes are available on Council’s website, along with Councillor contact details. Upcoming meeting dates are also published weekly in The Midland Express.
